Leadership Team

Marta

Owner, Thrifter, Numbers Nerd

In 2011, I started managing and cleaning vacation rentals for extra cash. It was fun communicating with excited guests before their stay and reading their sweet notes after. I loved it. A few years later, when Airbnb was just starting up, I listed my tiny basement bedroom.

Now, a decade and several houses later, I have the same joy knowing we’re connecting people with homes where they can make memories and celebrate life.

My goal for Up North and Away is that it will continue to be a channel of blessings:

  • Impeccably hosting our guests & caring for our properties

  • Offering diverse housing options: short-term, gap, affordable and homeownership incubators

  • Raising the standard of living and quality of life for our employees, contractors and community

  • Reinvesting 10% of our profits in organizations we believe in

I’m honored to do this work.

Kendall

Operations Manager, Detail Lover, Dog Mom

In high school, I already had a bustling cleaning business. That’s when Marta and I were connected by one of my clients. Over the years, our vacation rentals started taking more time, and I shifted my focus to supporting more pieces of the business.

In 2017, I took over all daily management of all our Airbnbs. I handle everything from guest communication to coordinating contractors as well as all the cleaning and property management logistics.

I believe our attention to detail, continual improvement and clear communication is what sets us apart as Airbnb Hosts.

Away from our rental properties, my partner and I love taking our dogs for hikes around Northern Michigan - always looking for the perfect rock.
